OBI presents the Oregon Visionary Award to individuals, companies or organizations that, through steadfast service to their communities, illuminate a path to shared prosperity built upon a thriving state economy with opportunity for all Oregonians. Awardees are those willing to set aside individual interests and politics to bring Oregonians together around a common set of values with a focus on practical solutions to the most difficult challenges of our time.
This year’s Oregon Visionary Award recipients were honored during OBI’s Oregon Vision Event on Oct. 23. They are:
- The Advanced Technology and Manufacturing Institute (ATAMI). As a core unit of OSU Advantage within the Division of Research and Innovation, ATAMI is a vibrant incubator for businesses leveraging cutting-edge flow chemistry and manufacturing technologies. Located on Hewlett-Packard’s Corvallis campus, this unique collaboration hub brings together Oregon State University engineers and private-sector partners to propel research, development and commercialization.
- Jenny Nguyen, founder of The Sports Bra, a sports bar in northeast Portland that shows only women’s sports on its five TVs. The Sports Bra also supports women in the food and beverage industry, sourcing ingredients from women-owned businesses. Two years after its 2022 opening, The Sports Bra announced plans to expand with the help of investment from the 776 Foundation.
- ZGF and the Hoffman Skanska Joint Venture for their leading roles in creating Portland International Airport’s new main terminal, an architectural tribute to the state’s landscape, its evolving industries and its unique culture. The project combines the architectural vision of ZGF with the expertise of Hoffman Construction and Skanska, whose joint venture made it happen.
