These include lattice towers that carry high-voltage power lines and structures for electrical substations. The company also provides expedited fabrication services in response to power outages and infrastructure failures. QB Fabrication & Welding recently completed a major substation structure fabrication for the Bonneville Power Administration that involved the delivery of more than 20 truckloads to the Boardman site. Company History: QB Fabrication & Welding was founded in 1987 by Ben Quach, whose family escaped Vietnam in 1976 following the withdrawal of American troops. Quach lost his welding shop in Vietnam but eventually started a portable welding business that he and his family have built into the largest manufacturer for the utility industry in the Northwest. The family-owned business, now run by daughter Ivy Quach and James Quach, produces more than 700,000 pounds of steel structures monthly for the region’s expanding power grid.
Location and Employment: QB Fabrication & Welding occupies a 9.5-acre site in Clackamas and employs 52 people.
