Calling all middle school students!
Share your ideas and flex your civics knowledge in the Oregon Civics Bee.

ABOUT THE BEE
Oregon Business & Industry is partnering with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation to host a first-of-its-kind civics competition in Oregon that encourages young people to engage in civics and contribute to their communities. Participating 6th, 7th and 8th graders will flex their civics knowledge for a chance to win recognition and cash prizes. The winner of the Oregon Civics Bee will be invited to Washington, D.C., to compete in the National Civics Bee national championship in fall 2024.
HOW TO ENTER
Any 6th, 7th or 8th grade student living in Oregon with an idea about using civics to improve their community may review the rules and submit an essay application using the portal below, which will open during the application period.
The application period opens Nov. 13, 2023, and closes Jan. 8, 2024. A panel of judges will review essays and choose 20 applicants to compete at the Oregon Civics Bee, a live event held in Salem in late spring or early summer 2024. The exact date has yet to be determined.
PRIZES
The top three finishers at the Oregon Civics Bee will receive a cash prize. First place will receive $1,000, second place $750 and third place $500.
