Gov. Kate Brown announced today that Oregon schools would remain closed for the remainder of the 2019/2020 school year, attributing that decision to the difficulty in implementing social distancing practices in a school environment.
“The best thing we can do is give everyone certainty by announcing we’re closing for the rest of the school year,” Brown said in a news conference this afternoon.
Students at Oregon’s K-12 districts will be educated through distance-learning programs that started to be implemented this week. The Oregon Department of Education issued guidance today for graduating seniors.
