After three rounds of voting in the inaugural Coolest Thing Made in Oregon contest, only two products remain. The 2023 Coolest Thing Made in Oregon will be either the A-dec 500 Dental Chair or Freres Engineered Wood’s Mass Ply Panels.
The competition to get to this point has been fierce. Oregonians nominated more than 150 products manufactured in all parts of the state. There was cheese, ice cream, sportswear, electric vehicles, wine, beer, furniture, sprayable marshmallow and even vodka made from milk products.
A panel that included representatives of industry, media and education considered this list and picked the top 16 products. And on Sept. 18, OBI and partner Here is Oregon kicked off the voting. Oregonians may vote in this final round until Friday, Oct. 20, at noon.
Representatives of A-dec and Freres Engineered Wood have been invited to attend OBI’s Oct. 25 Vision Oregon Event, where the winner will be announced. The manufacturer will receive formal recognition and enjoy bragging rights for producing Oregon’s coolest thing. At least until next year, when Oregonians will identify a new coolest thing.
